Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. When you use Kompass, we store the financial data you import or sync — transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, and goals — in your database instance.

We may collect standard log data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and debugging purposes. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell your data to advertisers.

How we use your information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Kompass service: running your dashboard, syncing transactions, calculating forecasts, and sending transactional emails (account verification, billing receipts). We never sell your personal or financial data.

Bank sync data handling

If you connect bank accounts via Teller, your bank credentials are entered directly through Teller's secure enrollment flow — never shared with Kompass. Kompass receives only the transaction and balance data that Teller syncs on your behalf. See Teller's privacy policy for details on how they handle credentials.

Data storage

Your data is stored in a SQLite database on the server hosting your Kompass instance. Data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. If you self-host, you control where your data physically resides.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may export your transaction data at any time from Settings. To request account deletion, contact us at [email protected]. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Third parties

• Stripe — processes subscription payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Teller — bank connectivity for transaction sync.

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

Your rights

You have the right to access, export, and delete your data at any time. Contact [email protected] for any privacy-related requests.

Cookies

Kompass uses session cookies for authentication only. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
